Windows: per server
One licence covers one Windows server and every IIS site on it.
| Edition | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| Windows Standard | $49 per server per month | $490 per server per year |
| Windows Premium | $99 per server per month | $990 per server per year |
| Windows Enterprise | from $199 per server per month | from $1,990 per server per year |
Enterprise is a starting price; sales quotes it, with volume discounts.
Linux appliance: by CPU cores
One licence covers one appliance and the number of CPU cores it uses to inspect traffic.
| Licensed cores | Premium monthly | Premium annual |
|---|---|---|
| 2 cores | $499 per appliance per month | $4,990 per appliance per year |
| 4 cores | $799 per appliance per month | $7,990 per appliance per year |
| 8 cores | $1,299 per appliance per month | $12,990 per appliance per year |
| 16 cores | $1,999 per appliance per month | $19,990 per appliance per year |
| 32 cores | $2,999 per appliance per month | $29,990 per appliance per year |
| More than 32 cores | custom pricing from sales | custom pricing from sales |
Linux appliance Enterprise is quoted by sales.
How cores are counted: A virtual CPU counts as one core on a virtual machine or cloud instance; a physical core (with its hyper-threads) counts as one core on a physical server.
Paying annually
Every plan with a list price can be paid monthly or annually. Annual billing costs 10 times the monthly price: 12 months for the price of 10, which is 2 months free (about 17% off). It is paid once a year, in advance. To pay annually, choose Buy annual on the pricing page, or Annually under Choose billing cycle: when ordering in the portal.
An appliance licence covers the number of CPU cores bought for the whole year; to inspect traffic on more cores, upgrade to a larger core licence.
What the price includes and excludes
Prices are in USD, per month or per year, excluding applicable taxes. The licence covers the PortWall software and the features of your edition, including updates. It does not include your infrastructure: cloud compute, storage, bandwidth and hardware are paid to your provider and are not part of the licence.
Quotes and volume discounts
Enterprise editions, appliances with more than 32 cores, and several servers or appliances together are quoted by sales, with volume discounts. Write to [email protected].
How many cores does an appliance need?
A core count is a licensing unit, not a promised number of requests per second: what a core handles depends on the processor, how much traffic is HTTPS, the size of requests and uploads, and which features are on. Send [email protected] your peak requests per second, the number of sites and the kind of traffic, and we will suggest a size. You can start smaller and move up: a larger core licence takes effect within a minute, without a restart. An upgrade to a higher edition or a larger core licence during a billing period costs the difference between the old and the new price, prorated for the time left in that period; the new price applies from the next renewal.
Refunds
Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated (Terms of Service). Annual plans are not refunded, in whole or in part, if cancelled before the end of the year. The full terms are at portwall.net/terms.html.
